Getting to Butuan City by landThough i've been to quite a few places in Mindanao using privately owned vehicles, I've never taken a public bus. Thus, I have no first-hand knowledge of the efficiency or comfort of buses and bus lines. These buses do go to all points in Mindanao. You can board most buses at the "Butuan City Integrated Bus Terminal". The roads are paved but only have two lanes (with no dividers between opposing directions. Sights you'll see travelling these roads are at times spectacular (mountains, forests, beaches, ocean), at other times, comical (pigs crossing the highway, coconuts on the highway), and at other times, practical (roadside restaurants, bbqs). If you're used to travelling by car in the west, the thing you'll miss the most will be the rest areas. Though you can stop anytime on road shoulders, there are no restrooms available. |
